Our hope was to inspire, challenge and motivate our attendees and give them useful tools to help spread the "CGS Gourd Glow" and fulfill the CGS mission with our members, our regional gourd groups and the public, in a fun and relaxed setting.

This is an All Inclusive three day, three night Package. All Guests includes: Room, and 8 meals.

FOOD SERVICE:  Unless otherwise specified, meals are served buffet style at 8:00 a.m., 12:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.  ECCO is unable to handle special diets, but will make every effort to accommodate vegetarians with advance notice in writing.  We also request that we be made aware of any food allergies, diabetes, etc.  in writing, with the name of the individual.  It is the responsibility of every individual to monitor their food choices, and provide for their dietary needs.
 
GCS Members will receive: A welcome goodie bag, and several art project kits. We will have a Trading Post with items that the members can bring to sell and trade. CGS Raffle to fund future Retreats. There will be plenty of time to work on your own projects or enjoy the area surrounding ECCO (antique shops, Yosemite National Park is a short drive away).

Things to Know and Do Before You Arrive

What to Bring With You

Weather 90’s days 60’s evening so bring something warm for evenings and cool for days. If you’re a hiker bring appropriate shoes.

There is no eating or drinking in rooms, you can eat outside your room or in the dining hall so you can bring an ice chest but leave it in your car or there is a refrigerator ask Pam Argo about it when you arrive. YOU CAN NOT KEEP FOOD or DRINKS IN YOUR ROOM. There are chairs outside your door, but you might want to bring a fold up chair for Comfort. You can also bring an easy-up for outside your area so we can all get together in the evens for a nice glass of wine, soda, tea, water or ???
There will be a fold up table set up outside room #101 at the Sanford Lodge, so we can put out evening snacks the possibilities are yours.

We will have about 7 projects for you to work on.  You can also bring your own projects to work on your choice.
Please understand that you only have a small work space so think about what you bring.
For your projects you will need:

Fast tacky Glue
• Paint brushes
• Needle Nose Pliers
• Wood burner if you like to wood burn
• Round pliers
• Wire cutters
• Stippling paint brush
• Dremel drill very small bits (will have one at supply table for use) also need sanding drum for your Dremel
• Cleaning tools if you are doing your own project (there will be a cleaning station for cleaning and sanding gourds)
• Carving tools if you like to carve
• There will be some paints at the supply table, but you might want to bring your own paints and inks
• Glue gun
• Small Task Light (optional)
• Electrical power cord (optional)
Electrical power strip
• Table Fan (small. optional)

Items for Sell

There will be a table for sell items so if you have things to sell please bring; you will need to have the items labeled with price, your name, and an  ID # please have a typed list of your sell items thanks.

Raffle

Last Bring money for the Raffle the tickets are 1 for a $1 or 6 for $5. There are baskets worth several hundred dollars really nice.

If you want a spa treatment its $10 for 10 min $60 for an hour so basically $1 a min.

Gourd Hat Parade - Best Hat - Prize $100

Hat parades have been a popular item at gourd festivals east of the Mississippi for decades and they are beginning to gain popularity in the West.

We are pleased to announce that a gourd hat parade will be featured at the retreat and we encourage everyone to join in the fun!

Here is what to anticipate for the hat parade. Special ribbons will be awarded in 6 categories:
Most original, most beautiful, most interesting, gourdiest, funniest, and other special recognition.
From this group of 6, the overall winner will be determined by spectator applause. A $100 prize will be awarded to the overall most popular winner!

Photos of the winners will be published our newsletter the Golden Gourd Newsletter and will be forwarded to The Gourd Magazine for possible publication and to be included in a new national Jim Story Hat Competition.

About the Spa at the retreat
Bryce (the massage therapist) will come to the center on the 10th and 11th if he has signups. He can come by Thursday to check in.  He will bring in a massage table and chair and do his work in a public place (behind a screen for the client’s privacy). He does clothes on massages. He is a specialist in sciatica pain and shoulders/neck. He charges $10 for 10 minutes / $60 for an hour. He prefers cash, no debit/credit cards but will do checks.

Mariposa Grove - Cost: 67.00 per person
4 Hours (includes travel time - approx. 1.5 hours)
Friday right after Breakfast
 
Surround yourself in the grandeur of the worlds largest trees in the most recognized Sequoia Grove in Yosemite National Park. Learn about the natural and human history of this grove with your group on this quick excursion.
 
You will start tour right after breakfast. A lunch will be bagged and ready for you at no cost.
 
Your payment in the amount of $67.00 is due by June 30th.
